Canoe Cart Plans:
Canoe Cart Plans with easy to remove wheels, and using a 15' cam buckle strap makes a compact system for carrying down river in your canoe. It is designed to be as light as possible and compact. The complete plans for the canoe cart can be purchased for $3.00. The plans includes 12 items in the parts list along with where to buy the items. Most of the items are available at Lowes, Home Depot and other national tool stores. There are step by step instructions (8 + 1 optional) with photos showing the assembly of the cart and it's components. It is easy to build with common tools. The hardest step is drilling a small hole through the threaded rod for the cotter pin. The building cost is about $65.00, and you will have a quality cart at a bargain price. Most of the cost of the carrier is in the wheels ($19.00 each) which is the most researched item in the Canoe Cart. Factors that were given consideration when selecting the wheels were weight (under 1.75 lbs), durable (take abuse), size (less than 13"), and function (needed quality bearings). But without good wheels it will not roll well or be able to be stored inside the canoe. The $3.00 covers my expense of researching and testing many wheels before deciding on the ones in the pictures. Once the PayPal Invoice payment is processed, you will receive an email with the pdf file for you to download immediately (the link will be valid for 3 business days). If you need to download a version of Adobe Reader, a link is provided below for a current version.
Here is a list of common tools required:
Tape Measure, Drill, 1/8” diameter drill bit for steel and a 1/2” diameter drill bit for PVC plastic, Hacksaw or Pipe Cutter for 2” outside diameter plastic pipe, Vise or Clamps to hold end caps, Center Punch or nail, Needle Nose Vise-grips, Sand Paper, WD-40 oil, Utility Knife, and Paper Towels for cleanup.
